This agreement is a continuation of the cooperation first established in 2003 between DNT, Gaz de France and its Enterprise Foundation (Fondation d'entreprise Gaz de France) and the French Hiking Federation (FFRP).

As part of the cooperation with DNT, GDF SUEZ E&P Norge also supports projects by Stavanger Turistforening (STF), Flora Turlag and Hammerfest og Omegn Turlag. These projects include the STF Preikestolen Base Camp project, opened in April 2009 and now used in STF's educational programme on nature and sustainable development for children and youth.
