Norwegian Sea exploration

Due to the infrastructure at Njord, exploration in this area has been revived over the last years.

In the 2004 Awards in Predefined Areas, licenses PL347 and PL348 were added to our portfolio. Several wells are expected to be drilled in these areas to prolong the lifespan of Njord.

In the APA2007 Gaz de France Norge was awarded operatorship and 70% equity in PL469 located to the south of the Draugen field. In 2008 Aker Exploration farmed into the license and from 1st March 2008 GDF SUEZ E&P Norge holds 52.5% and operatorship in this license Our first operated exploration well was drilled in PL469 in December 2009.  Even though the well was proven dry, the operation was a success.GDF SUEZ E&P Norge also holds equity in two deep-water licenses - PL328 and PL326 - in the Vøring frontier area of the Norwegian Sea.

In 2009, GDF SUEZ E&P Norge acquired a 10% equity in exploration license PL326 from Norske Shell. In June, the drilling of the Gro prospect was successful and proved gas.

Through APA 2008 GDF SUEZ E&P Norge was awarded equity in PL107B and PL107C, and through APA 2010 more licenses were awarded: PL348B, PL468B and PL582.
